How to Rotate a PDF Permanently (Free, Online)

SnapPDF Team·

Scanners and phone cameras often produce pages that open sideways or upside down. Your PDF viewer can turn the view for you, but that is only temporary: the next person who opens the file sees it the wrong way round again. To fix it for everyone, you need to save the rotation into the file.

How to rotate a PDF

  1. Open the Rotate PDF tool and add your file.
  2. Choose the angle: 90 degrees clockwise, 180 degrees, or 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
  3. Type the pages to rotate, or leave the box empty to rotate every page.
  4. Press the Rotate PDF button and download the corrected file.

Rotating only some pages

Mixed documents often have just a few pages in the wrong direction, such as a landscape table inside a portrait report. Enter the exact pages, for example 3 or 2,5-7, and everything else stays as it is.

Not sure which pages need turning?

If you want to see the pages and reorder or rotate them visually, use Organize PDF. It shows every page as a thumbnail so you can turn individual pages and move them around in one go.

Other things you may want to do next

Is my file safe?

Your file is encrypted in transit and at rest and deleted automatically, by default within 2 hours. See the privacy page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the rotation permanent?

Yes. The new file is saved with the pages rotated, so it opens the right way up in every viewer.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes. Type the page numbers or ranges you want to rotate, such as 2,4-6. Leave the box empty to rotate every page.

Which angles can I choose?

90 degrees clockwise, 180 degrees, or 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Pages are turned, not re-drawn, so text and images stay as sharp as before.
