How to Convert PowerPoint to PDF (Free, Online)

SnapPDF Team·

A PowerPoint file can look different on another computer: fonts get replaced, layouts shift and animations misbehave. A PDF fixes that. It looks the same everywhere, cannot be edited by accident and is accepted by almost every upload form. Converting takes a minute.

How to convert PowerPoint to PDF

  1. Open the PowerPoint to PDF tool and add your PPT or PPTX file.
  2. Press the PowerPoint to PDF button. There are no settings to choose.
  3. Download the PDF. Every slide is one page.

The conversion runs on our server, so you do not need PowerPoint, and it works from a phone, a tablet or a computer.

What is kept and what is not

In the presentationIn the PDF
Text, shapes and picturesKept
Slide order and sizeKept (one slide per page)
Colours and backgroundsKept
Animations and transitionsNot kept, each slide shows its final state
Embedded video and audioNot kept, a PDF cannot play them
Fonts that are not installed on the serverReplaced by a similar font

Because of this, it is worth opening the PDF and paging through it once before you send it.

Avoiding font surprises

If your slides use an unusual font, the converted text may be set in a different one, which can change line breaks. To keep the look:

  • Use common fonts such as Calibri, Arial or Times New Roman.
  • Or, in PowerPoint, save a PDF directly when you have the font installed locally.
  • Always check the result, especially slides with tight text boxes.

Slides that rely on animation

If a slide builds up step by step (bullet points that appear one by one), the PDF shows all of it at once. When the order matters, split such a slide into several slides before converting.

The same works for Word documents with Word to PDF (see our guide) and for spreadsheets with Excel to PDF.

Is my file safe?

Your presentation is encrypted in transit and at rest and deleted automatically, by default within 2 hours. We do not read it or use it to train AI. See the privacy page.

Frequently asked questions

Are animations and transitions kept?

No. A PDF is a static document, so each slide appears as one page in its final state, without animations, transitions or video playback.

Why do my fonts look different?

If a font used in the presentation is not available on the server, a similar one is used instead. Using common fonts, or checking the result, avoids surprises.

Which file types are accepted?

Both PPT and PPTX presentations.

Do I need PowerPoint installed?

No. The conversion happens online, so you can do it from any device with a browser.
